Connect Spree and Facebook

Why do Spree and Facebook Need to Be Connected?

Spree is an open source ecommerce platform. Facebook is one of the most widely used platforms for advertising, which businesses commonly use to grow their audience and further develop their brand, either through Facebook pages or ads. Without a conversion, customers who first interact with a brand on Facebook often may not be recognised when they purchase a product through Spree. Both platforms keep a rich set of sales data, but there are often significant discrepancies between them.

Here are some reasons why conversion tracking built into Facebook is not enough:

  1. Facebook customer data without proper first-party attribution doesn’t allow you to leverage the reporting capabilities of other reporting tools you may be using, such as Google Analytics.
  2. You can't use Facebook Conversions API by utilizing only back-end data (such as customer name, phone and e-mail) or front-end data (such as browser id) efficiently. It will work, but it would only be able to match about 30% of transactions.
  3. Using only Facebook Conversions API makes it difficult to track conversions reliably: it's not uncommon to see inaccurate statistics - higher or lower click numbers in Facebook Ad manager than in Spree.
  4. Facebook Conversions API deduplication parameter makes Facebook to ignore the event sent to Conversions API altogether when a corresponding Pixel event is available, even if Conversions API event has more customer data.
  5. These missing sales from Facebook that go unreported are caused by missing data, which occurs when there is no help from an integration platform such as Able CDP that ensures all sales data is properly attributed in Spree.

Spree and Facebook integration enables you to get a complete view of the customer journey. Attributing sales to leads and leads to marketing sources allows you to accurately track marketing campaigns and understand LTV and ROI.

A Complete Solution for Integrating Spree and Facebook

Able Customer Data Platform is the ultimate Spree and Facebook integration.

It combines browser tracking with server API integrations, linking website activity with purchases on the back-end to build a complete journey of each customer across Spree and Facebook.

This allows you to attribute 99% of sales to the correct marketing source, ad click and landing page and obtain data to inform strategy.

Use of Facebook Conversions API can improve your CPA by 13% across multiple verticals when setting up the Conversions API with the Meta pixel. It can also increase your lead to sale conversion rate by 20% by showing you which ads are optimized for your customer base. Connecting Able CDP to your Facebook Conversions API will ensure this helpful data is efficiently transferred to other analytics platforms you may be using, allowing for even better analysis of your marketing campaigns and customer journey.

All of this without coding and complex manual set-up of the connection between Spree and Facebook. Able already knows how to connect marketing data between Spree and Facebook.

How Able CDP Integrates Spree and Facebook

Able makes it easy to report on actual Spree revenue rather than conversions to leads, attributing all subsequent Spree revenue to the original visitor and campaign - even if it occurs weeks after the initial visit.

Able CDP combines browser and back-end tracking to:

  1. store Client Id for each lead and sign-up;
  2. attribute successful Spree payment to the Facebook user id and send e-commerce transaction to Google Analytics.

Able allows you to track any purchases made by the same customer, regardless of when and how, which are then attributed to the original website visitor and marketing source. This allows you to track and report Facebook leads and any subsequent purchases attributed to the original visitor source.

4 Steps to Connect Spree with Facebook by Using Able CDP

Step 1. Sign up for a free account

Step 2. Install Able tracking code on the website

Add following code to the website to track website events:

<script type="text/javascript" src=""></script>
window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', function () {
uipe('init', '%%FUNNEL_MARK%%')
uipe('track', 'PageView')

Where %%FUNNEL_MARK%% is the unique code of your Able CDP Funnel.

Able CDP page view tracking doesn't install its own cookies and relies on third-party identifiers such as Google Analytics Client Id to connect customer activity between website pages. Please enable cross-domain measurement in Google Analytics if your landing and lead/order pages are hosted on different domains.

E-Commerce Conversion Funnel Tracking
Able CDP helps to track modern multiple step e-commerce funnels where customers interact with multiple services prior to eventually making a purchase, resolving issues with incorrect Google Analytics attribution and conversions missing from Google Ads and Facebook Ads reports.

Send Purchases to Google Ads

Sending conversions to Google Ads is an extremely common integration scenario. Its used to add conversion value to Google Ads’ reports, allowing to report on ROI, as well as to use performance-based targeting and optimization capabilities.

Send Purchases to Facebook Conversions API

Attributing conversions to Facebook Ads is a common task, however doing it with sufficient precision is hard. Sales might happen in CRM, or, when they happen online, customer might not come back to the website, so tracking with Facebook Pixel JS produces substandard results. Able solves this problem with its Facebook Conversions API integration.

“A valuable insight we've got because of using Able Customer Data Platform is that display ads aren't working for us at all... we've been wasting money for years on paid display ads.

Before Able we'd be excited about every lead or email that came through, but after the last year we've determined that those don't convert at all.

And so we've been focusing on paid search, which does have return on investment.”
